Hello all. I am considering buying a new Bass. However, my question is whether or not I should buy a new horn, or go the route of custom. I can buy a Edwards or Shires valve section and use my current bell (10 inch red brass Holton). My other option is to purchase (for the price) a new Getzen bass, which a friend of mine has one and it plays great. Getzens come with a 9.5 in. bell and their choices on options are limited. With the custom, well its custom. I was just wondering if anyone has got a similar setup, or advice on what to look for in the custom. Sorry if the is vague.
Thanks

why are you buying a new horn?

is it because you want something new or because your holton is just no good?

I would seriously consider WHY you are going to get a new horn.

Also if you just want to upgrade your valves DONT and i repeat DONT buy them through shires or edwards. These "thayers" arent as good as Ed thayer`s thayers. The shires and edwards are heavy and not as fast the thayers that you buy from the man himself. Not to mention the standard thayer is aluminum so when it mixes with brass and water it creates its own lubricant. Less maintenance.

Thats all i ahve to say.
