Hi everyone, I just stumbled upon this site just now. I`m a sophmore in high school and I was wondering, is there any tricks to getting a great sound? people say my sound is good, but I`d like to make it sound better. at solo & ensemble I saw alot of people that made their sound waddle. I`d like to know how to do that to. thanks.

there are sooo many different ways to improve your sound. the kind of thing it sounds like you are describing is probably people who play vabrato. its really good for slow lyrical pieces. if you have ever heard anyone sing vabrato, it is the same type of thing. i`m not sure exactly how to explain it to somebody over the computer. but you have to use your diaphragm. yeah..... if you want to know more, just e-mail me. good luck!

You can use your jaw to do vibrato,
by moving it up and down. It takes
some practice, make the sound fluctuate,
in an eigth note pulse, then faster.
and then finally where, when playing a piece of
music the vibrato is interdependent on the tempo,
so when playing a long not in a lyrical piece, you
play the note then slowly start the vibrato and get faster
and faster with it until the end of the note.

or moving your slide a little in and out, but
that is really used for a lead trombone in Jazz.
