say tah. Tah tah tah tah..etc.... ok, now pick up your horn and do that but with your mouth on the horn liek if you were playing. after you do that, try it without any vocal and move your tounge like if you were saying tah while you are playing. thats the basic toungeing...sluring, its more of a cross between a dah and a tah...its something thats everyone is different, but i do it with something liek a flick of a tounge, but yah, get your basic tounging first before anything.

I would start out back on the mouthpeice. Keeping one steady pitch, and tounging querter notes with a "to" sound. Get this feeling in your head. Then after about 30 min. go back to your horn. Try in on a b flat. Then go up the scale chromatically. Doing this everyday is good practice. Even I still do it after 8 years of playing. All fundamentals are essential to make a good player. Of coarse now i do it with double and triple tounging. But that will come later.
