My Shires is fantastic. I also have a yellow brass bell, although sometime in the distant future I'd like a red bell for those more mellow purposes. Right now my #1 priority is a new car. I use a Doug Elliott LT104/G8 mouthpiece.

If you didn't like the Shires right away, remember that the best way to try one is at the factory where you have unlimited components to swap. When I first tried the Shires, I didn't like it either, but I kept mixing and matching components until I got it right. It took about three hours, but it was well worth it.

Yeah that's pretty much what I did with the Edwards. My teacher at the time (in college) played an Edwards and had many, many parts for it, so I went in for a lesson one day and just expiremented until I found the perfect fit. And I did!

Unfortunately, he then let me use his Greenhoe valve. Now, I need one.

I've tried the Greenhoe valve, and I like my Shires axial-flow valve more. I just love the open feel of it and big sound down low. When I first got the axial-flow, I thought I had made a mistake. I almost swapped it back in for the standard rotor. But the more I stuck with it, the more I adjusted to it, and it took about six months to get used to the axial-flow valve. All that I really needed was to use a lot of air, but slow it down. It's a difficult concept to grasp, which is why it took a while to get used to that valve.

??????????
Chris!

Jupiter trombone from the school

Anything my high school tells me to play. It's pretty interesting be a first trombone in the sophomore-junior-senior band while being a freshman. What's even more interesting is that I've only been playing for 6 months! I played violin for 5 years, taught myself electric bass and bass clef, and got 4 hours of lessons for trombone. The main reason I joined band is because I want to become drum major. Yeah for 3 drum majors! Yeah for NorCal! Yeah for WBA! Woohoo! AMADOR VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL BABY!

Currently, I play a Conn 88H (three years old) and a Getzen Custom small bore (can't remember the call number...but it has a rose brass bell!) I'm actually in the market for a new horn, though, and am looking at just about everything...I like the Conn, but I hate the closed wrap design!

I'm a freshman music major with emphasis in classical (symphonic) training, but also do a fair amount of chamber music, and a little jazz.

Pat,Ireland. And I play mainly a yamaha ysl 882 xeno with the gold brass bell and f attatchment. Also have the King 3b with the f attatchment but don't use it too much as i find it can't hold a good fat sound.Mainly play Big band and salsa, some brass section work with some well known bands.
