It`s summer and I`m not feeling motivated. I want to play and get better, especially since I`ll be going to college soon and don`t want to look like a complete doofus, but I`m having problems finding time/motivation. Any tips? Thanks.

What style do you play? And what ensemble(s) do you want to join in college?

Usally for motovation I listen to soloists. It really helps when you have a copy of the solo.

So here is what i do durring the summer if im not touring..... Lay off for about 2 weeks. Just party hard and have a great time. Then after a couple weeks time to kick it back up but slowly. Like spend a week on just hole note scales(never can do to many of those) and then get one of those music books with CD acompanyment. There a little cheezy but there fun and work those. stay out of your method books (you do have a couple method books?) for a few weeks and just do fun stuff. Then bust some harder method bok stuff (what ever part is hard for you). I have found to that if you want to stay motivated get a taskmaster for an instructer. Somone that will kick your a$$ every now and then.
If all that doesnt work then go sleep with the neighbors wife that always motivates me.
