You know where the fine tuners are? Well the part of the strings the are over the finger board and close to them make high-pitched sounds. I know about all of a violin, except I would like to know, do people use the overly high-pitched sound of it in musical excerpts or pieces? Or has anyone had any knowledge of someone doing something like that?

A lot of contemporary music uses that sort of thing - people like Penderecki and Ligeti. I don`t like Penderecki much but Ligeti is brilliant.

Not lots of pieces will have tons of notes in the higher ranges of the E-string, but for example, I just had my orchestra concert on Thursday night, and this one girl in 7th grade played this difficult piece (lots of douple stops, shifting to 3-9th+ position), and for example, the last several notes were trills high on the E-string, and it ended on what I think is either the highest or second highest harmonic on the E-string, so it was close to 1 inch from the edge of the finger board, so they are used. Needless to say, it made my Vivaldi 1st Mvmt Concerto in A minor look like nothing, but she has been playing 10-11 years, while I have been playing 11 months, so there is definitely a difference.

If she is in the 7th grade and has been playing for 10-11 years does this mean she has started when she was a child?....maybe another prodigy.
