It is all about the hype with no substance to back it up & the blind veneration of the filipino musician to their very few violin maker even if the violin sounds weak, unclear E, unchartered tonal register & everything in between. Informed by someone there whom is a musician that the Violins made there are great. Since I am a collector & a musician too, I travelled & tried, but all disappointments broke loose. Its a $1,500 violin made by amandor(?) & other guys. The price is not a problem BUT the sounds of their violins. So why, would I buy? Just because some filipino said it`s great. Another convincing act came my way when they still pursue to sell stating that the violin is suppllied to conservatories, & 2 of their local orchestras. That really surprised me even more. Pity. A blind veneration it is. How can people (especially the people from their orchestra) buy those when the sounds are imminent to a less than a hundred dollar violin. I know that violinist can transcend an ordinary intrument to a great one but it`s great to know that your instruments are great too. I don`t know where the problem lies. Is it their ears or their pride of patronizing their own product no matter the extent.

violin music seeking same

Have you guys tried "Marino Antonio Violin" which are rarely found there in Manila, Philippines? I have the chance to try it with that Tamayo Violins. My verdicy is simple, furthering a definitive conclusion & that the Marino Antonio Violin is way greater in terms of the following:
1. Easy playability & Great Sound due to great maple woods & not TWO - PIECE BACK.
2. Sweeter D, Powerful Sol, Clear E & smooth A which I think is due to the fine intrinsic construction of the Violins. ( I have tried 5 Marino Antonio Violin. ), strips are not lousy & stabilized perfectly to support the purpling inlaid.
3. The soundpost is well adjusted.
4. The Spruce is well aged as like the maple used on the Violins.
5. And I LOVE THE VARNISH which are from Europe.

I have tried this Violins labeled Marino Antonio , anno 2004 from a friend of mine. He bought it immediately upon the commendation of a Violin teacher. Ab- SOUL -ute sound register & the wood works are great. My friend in the orchestra even has one also. It is a great addition to our local made violins but the sound distinction of this violin is remarkable. No one can deny its power resonating when simultaneously played with other violins even if its put head to head with the Tamayo`s. But the latter is good too.

I have it, dated 2005. Sandwich maple. Very light weight, in fact paper weight. The seller gave me Pirastro Tonica Strings & Pirrazi E free of charge. I will be buying bow with designs on the frog. i am ready to go. I don`t want to stop playing. Hahahahahahahaha!! You were refering to the Strad Copy Marino Antonio. But if by chance you saw the K-series & F-series, it is awesome. Less than 100 hundred known to exist. Not rare but the sounds is remarkable as the guys here in this forum said. I agree with you. Some european makers even replicate the artistic scroll it has. But I know that the correct positioning of the Soundpost can affect the sounds and it`s a great add ups on the already exemplary sounds. Cheers!!!
