i have just changed the g string to dominant as it snapped. others i left them as they are as they are still pretty good.
although kiyoshi (my violin...yea i named it...) is china made but it has a solid and loud sound.
here's my dilemma
1. after i changed the g string, i noticed that it is not as loud and clear as previously... it sounded a little muffled is it something wrong or it should take a few more days to break in... since i'm a beginner, i'm just playing open g string to try to break in the string... anyone with similar muffling (ahahha) issue?

2. my A string is acting up too... not sure it is my bowing technique or... but previously it was ok until after 2 weeks of playing... not sure how to explain but it's like screeching sometimes... i tried to bow harder or softer or different angles but still the same... i tried putting more rosin or put lesser rosin, still the same...
not sure it's the correct term "screeching" i mean... or is it called as whistling or wolfing?

help?

thanks

do you clean your strings/violin after each practice?

you know those really soft clothes that you can get to clean glasses? i use one of those to clean my violin/strings after practice.

you just lightly rub the resin off of the violin, strings and finger board or where ever it may have gotten.

this may help with the high pitched sound you're producing during play.

doing this will also help to preserve the finish on your violin and make the strings last longer and give you a clearer sound the next time you play. too much caked on resin stops the strings from being able to properly resonate.

personally, I've never had problems with having to "break a string in" did you string your violin yourself?

if you have a teacher have them help you restring it. or you could take it to your local music store and see if someone there could help you make sure it's been strung properly.

it may be the quality of your strings, or it hasn't been strung properly or perhaps your bridge moved during the process.

yes. i clean the strings and violin after each practice.
i didnt change the string as i've not done it before... someone experience did it for me.

but the good news is that after playing the string for few days, the G sounds better now ... hope it would improve more...

thanks for your advice
