I was just curious if there were any fiddlers on here. My sister has a violin and plays classically, and recently I've been getting annoyed with the constraints of my pennywhistle and wanted to fiddle - but I don't really play violin.
I do know, though, that fiddle is much more relaxed than violin...

I play fiddle... and I used to play penny/tinwhistle... but it is sort of limited, and I got a little bit bored of it. Well, maybe a lot bit bored. But it's still in my closet! I think fiddling has a LOT wider range just of playing in general (if that makes sense?) and it is a lot more rewarding imo. Good luck, if you choose to try it!

I am an Irish fiddler. It's great, the playing environment of a session is so much more relaxed and fun than a classical concert/recital, and there's far more scope to develop an individual style to suit you. Dive in!
