Hi again Liz! I just think you are the greatest. I have been all over the place hopping around violin forums and I haven`t found one yet that you haven`t willingly helped out those of us in need!!
Well, I think "Grandad" decided to hang on to his violin, so restoration fees aren`t priority to me. Now I`m back to gliga, which obviously you would support wholeheartedly! My question is- now that I`ve read so much from other peaole about the violins, I wonder if maybe I am a little too zealous about the gama outfit. Should I settle for a gems instead? I am not that advanced at all! My thinking originally was that I would just buy once and not worry about upgrading. Now I`m not sure since people seem to think the gems are great, too. I know that I won`t ever be a professional- just a Mom who enjoys playing the violin! What so you think, my friend?
ps- I`m so glad you commented in one of your replies to someone about Marshall music and the way places like that charge up to 5 times more for their violins. That was the place my teacher recommended over violinslover on ebay!

Hi Alicia,

Get whichever one you like: the Gama is noticeably better but it comes down to budget in the end.

I`ve decided on the gama. In this thread and also on Elida Trading I saw something mentioned about a gama "2". I didn`t realize there were numbers except for on the gems 1 and 2. I can`t find anything to indicate that on violinslover. Is there a difference?
I`m sorry, I don`t mean to drive you crazy with dumb questions.

Never mind about my last question. I settled everything and bought the Gama from violinslover. I received it last week and really love it. I`m glad I decided to get it instead of the gems 2. Thanks again for all your help.

Ah, I didn`t see the last question, sorry, it must have got buried quickly!

Anyway the difference is that one has a one piece back OR more spectacular wood and the other doesn`t.

Glad you`re happy with the violin

Liz
