Is it possible to figure out putting fine tuners on your violin for the first time?

Hi all,

I played violin for about 6 years and it`s been about 6 more years since i`ve played. I just bought a beautiful professional type violin from violinslover. BUT i didn`t realize right away that it would just have the E string tuner. Unfortunately i didn`t notify them in enough time to get the tuners put on, so they`re sending them out to me. I`ve NEVER put tuners on a violin....so i`m nervous about this. I`m thinkin` i should just find a store that could put them on.
What do you think? I do know that i much prefer the fine tuners to the pegs. and since it`s new, i know when it gets here i`ll need to tune it!

I`m sorry I don`t know the answer to your question - perhaps liz will pop up with some advice

It`s very easy. I did it for the first time when I was 13 and had been playing for two years. I very much doubt whether you will have any problem. If you do, mail me and I will talk you through it.

I know that higher end violins normally have fine tuners on E string only.
It`s not necessary to have all of em.

Why do you want more fine tuners? Is it difficult to tune with pegs?
