what is "essential elements" and i got a violin only 60$

Violin is easy. It`s amazing they consider it and instrument really. I haven`t played it since November and I could pick it up today and start playing it.

I am currnetly 15 and in yr 11. i started the violin in yr 3 purely because i though it was cool! then at the end of yr 5 i started the cello! which becasme my new love and i ma currently a student at the Birmingham conservatoire! (very cool )then at christmas i started the bviola for a new challenge! and i am taking my grade 7 at christmas! so after a year of playing grade 7 is not bad!

I do suggest that if you are going to start a string instument it be the viola! it is a lot easier then the violin (and a lot less painful on the ears!) the scales are easier as well as the pieces. The cello is also a really cool instrument and when i speak to people they say its their favourite1 and it has a beautiful sound! Life shows that the things that have been most lasting whether music, or anything else have been those very simple things. With that said, learning to play a violin well, is different than learning to simply play violin technically. While the mechanics and bowing associated with learning violin can be a challenge, reading the music is relatively easy.

So everything depends on your desire, and nothing else; and, to the extent that you are willing to play those simple songs (Air on the G String) well, you can pretty much define your own limitations. You really should give it a try at least. I started when I was in my 40`s and have no regrets--but I play several other instruments as well.

Roughly, how much does it cost to begin learning the violin? I would love to play the violin but how should I start?

Don`t let people tell you that it is too late to start or that you can`t get good quickly. I started piano just short of 4 years ago and I can already play some of Betthoven`s Sonatas (original pieces), which I hear is concert level stuff so I imagine it is the same for most instruments, if you love what you are doing a practise as much as possible there is no reason you can`t be good in 3 or 4 years.

its not that difficult although when you first start it can be a bit frustrating... good luck!

It is never to late to pick up any instrument!!! I can`t say much for violin because i started when i was 6 and have been playing for almost 10 years now. I love the violin so much and if you finc the right teacher you will NOT regret it.

From my own personal experience, there is no instrument more difficult to learn than any of the four main stringed instruments. This is mainly due to the co-ordination conflicts between the fingering and the bowing arms.
The key to the violin, is playing confidently.
If you play tentatively, a violin is not pleasent to listen to. Also, the sooner you learn vibrato, the better!
I`m in grade 11 and have been playing for 11 yrs, violin is the one thing that I really enjoy immensly.
My advice is to definately take it up. After all, its the greatest instrument ever made!!

essential elements is a violin lesson book. it is very succsessful for everyone! i prefer the 2000 version

hi! I`m almost 24 years old, and i started to play violin a year and half ago.So, it`s never too late. I`m still learning to do the 3th position. But i can do the vibrato yet, i learned it in 1 moth. Dont quit, and good luck

Hi,I`ve been taking violin class for a year and I`m so in love with violin that I want to go to the conservatory and I have one year to be prepare for the auditons to get in. I would really apreciate any advice.

I am almost 50 and started to read music and play the violin 6 months ago.I have a great teacher from a symphonic orchestra.I run a home ,and run my own language school,have time to do Pilates and swimming and practice 2 hours a day (I wish I had time to do more)I`m all for trying to learn ANYTHNG at any age.Don`t let anyone say it`s ever too late

I have played guitar for 8 years or so and have become pretty good at that. I taught myself guitar and taught myself some piano and drums, but I think I might wanna go ahead and get a few lessons for violin. I`ve always loved its sound, especially in Celtic applications. So I guess I need to look around for a teacher and a decent student violin.

i`m 55 and going to take first lesson this week. advise?
