hi everyone! I play cello for 9 years and I am now at conservatorie... but I canīt stand my cello teacher. He is the only cello teacher at that conservatorie, so I canīt change him. I think about changing the instrument and I want to begin with viola... Viola teacher is really kind, it is great instrument with wonderful sound and all violist that I know are great people... what do you think, will I be able to handle it?

I know that it isn`t neccissarily what you are looking for, but I am not sure that you should quit the cello just because of the teacher. If you really love it, I think you should stick with it. However, if you have made up your mind to quit, I think that you could definately handle the viola. Of course you would have to deal with the clef change, but that would probably be the hardest thing you would encounter. Other than that, it should be fairly easy, considering the strings and notes are the same. It`s really not a hard instrument to learn. Go for it, and have fun!
