I bought a Viola and it played well for a week, but now the tuning pegs won`t stay in place. Can anyone tell me how to keep them in place or did I get a bad viola?
Thanks.

I play cello, not viola, but what I have to say should apply equally to both instruments.

1) All string players occasionally have trouble with their tuning pegs; make sure you`re pushing in as you`re turning. I prefer to rely mostly on fine tuning. If you don`t have four fine tuners on your tailpiece, you can have these installed.

2) For more severe problems, there is a sort of wax you can apply to the pegs. You can pick this stuff up at your local music store.

3) If none of the above work, you may indeed have a faulty instrument, and the solution may be to replace the pegs.
