I am doing a survey to satisfy my own curiosity.
What is your favourite piece of music
1. To play
2. To listen to?
Why?

I guess I`ll go ahead and start off...
1. To play- My favorite pice to play would have to be the first movement of the Grieg quartet. It`s a very powerful piece for any chamber group. At first runthrough there are a few parts that have to be worked out, but after that it becomes an absolute joy to play!
2. To listen- This would have to be the Bartok Viola Concert. I may be slightly biased, due to being a violist, but all things considered it`s still an amazing work by Bartok. Especially if your a Bartok fan!

fav pc to play : Waxman Carmen Fantasy...Gives me adrenaline rushes all the time.
fav pc to listen : Bach Bradenburg Concerto no 2, 2nd movement only ( not the whole work)...
I love the staggered entrance and the serenity it gives me...And I find the pc strangely but beautifully `sad`....LOL, don`t know why.

I like to play Bach`s Arioso. It was recommended by my private teacher. I also like it because it is a great warm-up piece and really helps when practicing vibrato.

I like to listen to "Winter" of the Four Seasons by Vivaldi. It has this authentic sound to it that you can`t find anywhere else.

1:I like to play Concerto in A minor by Vivaldi, I just started it, and am loving it!! I played Concerto in G Major 2nd movement last season and it got annoying and repetitive.
2: Okay, this is going to sound really weird but my grandparents have this CD called PDQ Bach, where they murder the classics. Hillarious, and I like the 1712 Overture(different version of 1812 overture) they add really funny htings to it!!

Favorite Peices:

To play: Two choices for this one: 1)Model Festival(4/4). powerful, but kinda easy to do. 2)Variations on a Well Known Sea-Chanty(2/4). It`s 4 pages and pretty powerful at points. The opening is strong, then dies down to long half notes. Then we`re back to powerful again, and it lasts powerful, and at pointes very fast, until the 3rd page. Then it picks up at the 4th to finish strong. It`s awesome, to me.

To listen to: Pachelbel`s Cannon in D Major. Easily the best I`ve listened to. Of course...I haven`t listenedd to many...but still.

My fav. piece is Telemann`s Viola Concerto in G Major. Does anyone know where I can find the free sheet music online? Just the 1st movement Largo would be good enough - cheers!

I like to play Bach`s first suite, it`s good for when you don`t really want to practice...
Dvorak`s New World Symphony (9th, I think) is so much fun to listen to, even perform in orchestra.

My favourite piece to play is probably Accolaÿ´s violin concertino. It´s quite easy but still fun.
My favourite piece to listen to is Mozart´s Requiem. It´s not exactly a piece but it´s still the best I´ve heard.. (mostly Lacrimosa, Confutatis and Domine Jesu Christe)At least for the moment. I use to change my mind a lot. Before it was Mendelsohns violin concerto. 1st mouvment. It´s really nice.

I don`t have just one favorite...

I really liked playing the "Grand Canyon Suite" and the "Russian Easter Overture" but there are so many pieces that I love to play...

I love to listen to Barber`s "Adagio for strings" and the "Russian Easter Overture" but again, there are many favorites.

I am 10 years old and I am on the seventh book of Suzuki but I still love all movements of Concerto in A Minor by Vivaldi. I also enjoy playing Dvorak`s Humoresque.
Anyone doing Suzuki should try remembering back to Andantino!!! (if ur in book five or six or seven)
