I am starting cello and looking at a Carlo Robeli 300 series. It lists for $700. but I can get it for $500. Is this an ok instrument for a couple of years??? It is a laminated spruce top which I am thinking is pretty low quality? But they are so expensive. Anyone have this one?
Thanks

Laminated cellos are not as good sounding as a solid one - but it will do if you just want to try it for a few years. Upgrade the strings to Larsen A and D, and Spiracole G and C, and the cello will sound a lot better.
You also need to upgrade the bow to a light 77 gram one - I can send you one for $95.
If you want a carved solid one, I can send you one for $1500 including a $500 hard case. It will come with professional setup, including the strings I mentioned, and an upgraded pernambuco bow.
