I have played Violin for three years and have become sick of it. I have been playing piano for 3 years and still am. I am absolutely obsessed with the cello and want to start learning! is the technique much like Violin?

Well there are similarities of that with the cello and the violin. I am a Freshman performance major and will tell you right now that cello is not easy nor is the violin. Each has their own ways of doing different things. It kind of depends on which "tech" you are requesting. When we play a stringed instrument we must practice what is muscle memory. This is for when you are shifting or beginning. We practice for countless hours to develop these skills and hone them. So if you are asking if shifting on the violin is the same as the cello, it kind of is. The only exception is you use your weight of your arm to shift as opposed to moving your arm. The bow hold is different for cello players. If you are really obsessed with the cello you do need to realize that it takes a lot of practice, countless hours a day practicing, and regular lessons to get to a point where you can be truly satisfied with your playing. I hope this helps
