http://www.mediafire.com/?dx31teuxqwe If this link works, it is a short mp3 of me screwing around on my cello. Nothing fancy but I took the A string all the way past the finger board to prove there is no problem with the pickups beeing there. The sound sucks cuz I was using a crappie mic so sorry about that.

thats a sweet set up, i think the vertical pick ups are a good idea, especially as you said with the greater amount of oscillations being picked up (don't quite know how pick ups work but understand physics!) is the body made of wood? i wonder what a carbon body would be like, but you would want to reduce body vibration wouldn't you? (don't know much about electric instruments either!)
i commend you! its a great looking instrument (would personally make the top a bit finer, but im a girl - very manly!) love the shape on the sides of the body

Great to hear people are liking it. I have actually made some substantial changes to the pickups recently (this thread is old!). The pickups were moved down closer to the bridge so that they would pickup sounds even past the fingerboard. The fingerboard and bridge were replaced by graphite and carbon fiber parts that will last forever (they better for $240)! As you can see from the pictures, the cello is now all back and chrome! Plus, I drilled holes in the body for the adjustable feet on the bridge so now it can NEVER fall over while playing again! I can get away with that because of the thickness of the body.

As for the wideness of the wings, that is exactly one thing that makes it real nice for thumb position; just think how comfy that is on your arm while playing! It has been called the most comfortable and easiest to play cello ever!
