I'm actually a former cello player, I played for sixteen years. I can no longer play, unfortunately, because I have chronic pain in my shoulder when I do.
I need to sell a cello. It is a rather expensive instrument, but I don't know how to go about selling it. I've only ever bought cellos. Can anyone give me any advice about where to start?
Thanks,
Yvonne

I think it would be a good idea for you to take it somewhere for a written appraisal. Most buyers don't realize the value of a cello and probably would not feel comfortable taking just your word for it. It would also help if you still had the original sales receipt. You might try the local paper classified ads. You also might consider taking it to a local string store and see if they would consider selling it for you on consignment. There is always ebay.com but you would have to ship it to the customer and that could be risky because of possible damage.
