Hello everyone!

I've been lurking around on this forum this weekend and decided to post my own questions/concerns.

First off, I am 26 years old and other than a brief stint playing the Violin, I don't have any prior musical experience. I really enjoyed the violin, but ultimately felt it was too challenging for my awkward right hand. Now a year later I'd like to pursue the cello. I'm just not sure where to start.

Currently I'm taking Nursing pre-reqs, but I'm still not convinced Nursing is what I want to do and whenever I heart instruments like the cello or violin I get chills because they're so beautiful and I think that is what I want to surround myself in everyday. But I'm discouraged because I feel it's too late to pursue a degree in Music with no musical background. Have any of you started up late and gone to school for a degree in Music? What were the outcomes? Am I being realistic? I feel at a disadvantage because of my age and being left-handed.

I'd love to hear a bit about your own experiences. Thanks for reading.

Hi I'm 55 and have just bought a cello. I've played guitar forever and in my mid 30's did AMEB Grade 5 inn classical guitar got a credit only so I'm no world beater. Practice, love of music and just do it. I don't know about the degree...good luck with that!!!

It's never too late to learn. If you find yourself drwn to music, and it makes you happy, go for it! You'll just need to practice a lot to keep up with the big dogs.

I don't think so it's late. Learning new things are always possible in any age.
