I think that you can never be too old to learn an instrument. As long as you are determined and have a passion for playing it, then go for it! I play the drums and piano, but I really would like to play the cello also. It produces such a warm, mellow sound. It would be too expensive in my case to learn cello, but if you can, then go for it, expand your horizons. I know someone who picked up violin at 50. He is 60 now and he plays wonderfully.
