Are you sure only your fingerboard broke, no open seems or anything? Anyway, if your fingerbord can`t be repaired, then get a new one. If you get a new fingerboard, you would have to get one the same size as your old one because every cello is a little different. If you can`t find one thats the exact size, then you might have to get some sand paper and make one smaller to fit. When you glue the fingerboard back on the cello, use wood glue. When it comes to wood glue, well I had a bridge that broke in half and glued it back togeather with the wood glue that I had. After that I put the strings back on and played the cello, so gluing the fingerboard back on with this type of glue will be no problem.

Elmers wood glue,

Oh, and if you want to fix it yourself, don`t ask help from a instrument repair place because they will not tell you. :-)

how on earth did u drop a 1932 John Myer cello down the stairs?!?!?!? ok, whatever u do, dont repair it your self. i know a girl who`s viola`s fingerboard broke, and she glued it together with elmers school glue. my orchestra teacher was furious!!!My advise is for something that old and valuble, take it to a specialist shop to get it repaired.

My A-string broke. When my brother took my cello to his bosses house with employee freinds, as soon as he tuned the a-string with a so-called sophisticated tuner the string broke. That`s funny because the string was already in tune, so in other words he turned the peg until the string poped. Oh well, no big deal.
