--I will try to explain it better. Out of the 4 stings on the cello,
-the skinniest string is the A string and is the most high pitch string. The (A note/string) is the top line.
-the second skinniest string is the D string and is the second lowest pitch string. The (D note/string) is the middle line.
-the second thickest string is the G string and is the second lowest pitch string. The (G note/string) is the bottom line.
-the thickest string is the C string and is the lowest pitch string. The (C note/string) is the bottom dash.
-And when I say those specific notes are on those lines, I dont mean above the line or below the line, I mean the big dots/notes(dbpqo/ with circles filled in) are in the lines.

Try to go to the Free Sheet Music Database, listen to the cello music (the slow and simple music) and try to read it at the same time.

I originally wanted to play the violin, but the position was too akward and I have a bad neck so I decided to play cello instead. I never bought a violin, and 3 weeks after my first violin lesson was able to play "twinkle twinkle" at the music store, even though I hadn`t touched a violin for almost a month. I hope that`s a good sign!

I`ve played cello for 2 yrs. Originally I was going to play viola but the grace had only one cello at the time so I decided to play cello (the irony is is that now we have 3 celloes/celli? out of a class of 8 and now only 1 viola. The cello`s nice because you play deep low notes but you can also play very high notes as well. You can play songs written for cello and alot lot of violin songs, but violins can`t really play cello songs. The problem with that is that a big range of notes demand many cleffs, bass, tenor, and treble. I`ve finished suzuki books 1,2,3, and 6

Hello, If your wondering where to get a cello without paying so much ebay might be good if your just starting out and you really need an instrument. My advice is to look around at pawn shops and local music stores for a good deal. My sister and I got a nice older cello for $190 at a pawn shop with only a few stratches and my sister`s orchestra teacher approved. Just keep looking and I`m sure you`ll find a good deal.

I just started playing the cello. The fingerings are a little different than violin and viola`s. You use 4 fingers. You need to spread your fingers out. It is fun though. you may want a teacher for the first couple of weeks.

Torik it`s never to late to start to learn something new. I am Cello player, I am at a grade 3 moving on to grade 4 soon. I am not that old 13. But i have been reading comments on here how it`s easy to play the cello, true it is because we get the rubbish and boring parts but once you start getting past a grade 2 it gets alot harder. It`s got to get more challenging or it wouldn`t be a challenge. I play in 3 different Orchestra`s each on different, one of them we go to i like because we don`t get all the easy stuff to play. All I think all I`m trying to say really it`s not as easy as people think, it may be quiet easy but not easy. if you know what i mean. But when people learn a instrument i think they should stick to it. i do know what anyone else thinks?
I would be great to here from other people so if you want please reply.
