Your olde Ventura should have a `sticker` inside the body observed thru the sound hole. Yours is probably a model V-17, produced in the early 1970`s by Ventura guitars in Japan, and imported to America by Sam Bruno (New York). Ventura plagiarized Gibson models, and were manufactured with some of the very best materials available at the time. Check out eBay for current model values.

Well, I`ve got a Model V-235 that looks like a copy of the Gibson Dove. I`ve had it since the 70`s when I bought it used. I love this guitar as well. It has beautiful mother-of-pearl inlays just like the Dove.

I `ve had this Ventura classical
guitar for over 20 years and wondered if it has any value. Its a great sounding guitar and a joy to play. Now my son is taking lesson and enjoys the mellow sound and feel of this guitar.

The label inside reads:

Ventura Bruno
B1271
Model V-1583
Serial 5881
Any information would great.!!!

I have a V16 Bruno 12 string. I have had it about 20 yrs. I would never let it go. It was sota given to be by a strange kinda guy that lived in a trailor next ta us. He was from Oklahoma. 1 of 7 boys. they were all cowboys but him. The black sheep. He had Marawana leaves panted around the bridge. We befreinded him, had him over for xmas and turky day. He moved back home ta make peice and gave me the 12 for 150$ that I didn`t have. He said when he settled he would write and I could send the money than. I learned later that he was killed in a motor cycle acc. The bridge was badly worpet and the neck had a big U in it. I took it to an old man at a music store in C.R. He said it was beyond repare and asked if I could play it. I played Amasin Grace with a Blues tone. He said he would see what he could do. I also gave him a 12 string butt plate that a machines made out of stanless steel for me ta put on and told him I wanted a set of silk and steels put on it. 2 weeks later I picked it up. Played El Shadi by Amy Grant for him and he Smiled and charged me 20$ The parts were more than that. He said he steam baked the thing and reshaped the neck. Since I have put 3 crosses on the face with the pot leaves and have played funerals, weddings and at church and many othe places. I also have a Martin 6, Ovation 6, Walbash 6 and 2 other 6`s but I prefure the 12, it`s just part of me now.

I got a Ventura V-8 since 1981, and believe, me, it`s a superior guitar. I was a Genesis freak (Peter Gabriel era) and read somewhere they used Ventura and Alvarez acoustic guitars. But my dream guitar has always been the unreachable Gibson J200…
In a bass player friend`s house I saw this unstringed acoustic guitar inside a darkened closet, got my eyes all the way up the neck and saw the magic word "Ventura". Here`s a dream guitar!!
You have a Ventura with NO strings? Are you kinda nuts?
He replied Yeah, I tried to break it in my brother`s head during a fight but the guitar is really tough, didn`t break and got some crevices and I don`t want it. You can have it for yourself for free, if you want… (this guy IS nuts!)
I grabbed the guitar got a set of strings and heard this magic sound for the first time - the kind of sound you always wanted!! Here`s my little FREE J200!
It had a bad crack where the neck meets the body so the strings were very high and uncomfortable. But the legendary sound was already there! I gave my friend a symbolic $20 and got it fixed, and today I own a $20 profesional acoustic guitar that gets better and better from month to month, from year to year. I wouldn`t trade it for nothing. So to hang around with a "cheapper" guitar in my dangerous neighbourhood, I got a $600 Martin 000XM Auditorium (great soud too). That one I don`t mind if someone steals it!!

I just bought a used Ventura SG today at my local music shop (1-8-04). I haven`t played it through an amp yet since mine is..pending. They look like really great guitars and almost like an exact replica of a real sg. If anyone has any info of Ventura and what happened to it (supposedly went out of business some 20 years ago or so), please email me.
