I recently bought a Ventura 1585 classical at a garage sale. No mention of Bruno on the label, or country, or serial number. Has rosewood sides and back. Appears to have a solid top; rosewood fret board. Looks almost exactly like Sigma CS1ST N; and has the same sweet sound.

Does anyone know anything about this guitar; especially the years made?

Thanks.

Anne

Ventura guitars were manufactured in Japan during the 70s during the big Les Paul boom by Gibson. A well placed lawsuit by Gibson knocked them and many companies like them off the market. Without the Les Paul design, they folded.

I have a Ventura Rose 1971 acoustic and my dad just got a $500 Takamine and it still sounds better then his. My dad gave me the guitar and he bought it in Japan for $100 or soback in the seventies. Ventura was a great guitar company and made such a great instument for a lot cheaper than what gibson and martin made and that is why they shut down the company over some lawsuit.

I have a Ventura model v-14 that I bought in a pawn shop in Oklahoma for $100.00 (with case). I bought it in 1992 when I was just learning to play. I recently bought an $800.00 Seagull artist series and the Ventura sounds better, even after I accidentally left it leaning up on my truck and ran over it one day about 8 years ago. I broke the neck right at the 2nd fret, it did`nt break the fretboard, so I glued it back together and clamped it for about a week, and it still plays and sounds just as sweet as the day I bought it. If anyone has any info on these guitars, please post it. Thanks

Wow, interesting to find this forum. I have a Bruno Ventura Model 1587, Serial 8185. I had a guitar stolen and a friend let me "borrow" the Bruno Ventura for the past year or two. I have loved the guitar and noticed how well it was sounding and decided to see if it was any sort of known name or anything. Then I found this site. Now I`m verrrry interested!

Just picked up an old Ventura 12 for a song. Needs new tuners, pegs and a little tlc from a luthier but appears to be a quality instrument. Anybody know any specifics on this model? Inside it says "designed in USA" and "built in japan"
Have to get some work done on oit before I even string it.

I`ve had a Ventura 12 string guitar for about 13 years now. I don`t know the history of it. All I know is that my dad bought it from some old man and then gave it to me on my 16th birtday. I learned from it. Took off 6 strings to make it just a 6 string to learn on and haven`t changed it since. I love that guitar and would never sell it or give it away to anyone for any price. It sounds great and alot of different people who have played it have been impressed by it`s sound. I need to find out exactly which one it is. I figure it`s at least 15 - 20 years old.

In 1997 when looking for a guitar, I went to Manor Music Mansion in Millersville, PA looking for a medium price guitar. It was suggested that I buy the V-35. At the time, it cost around $500.00 (a nice chunk of change). It has mother-of-pearl inlay in the appropriate frets and a 3-piece back with more inlay. Although a laminate, it still sounds great. I`m about to send it to the shop to have some work done.

I`ve had it for quite a while and for me, its been a great instrument.

I just a Ventura V-16 12 string for $60.00. It`s needs some minor work, but sounds awesome. I have played alot of 12`s the last 30 years, but this is one of the best.
BTW, C Bruno and Son CO, who were the original importers, are still in the wholesale music biz in Atlanta.

anyone know anything of the v-5 models? in particular, does it have a laminated top? i think i`ve heard something about some later models having this but i`ve never known which did. i also have an old jumbo sized ventura. i`m not sure on the model number, v-20 0B or v-2008 or something like this. it`s definately v-20, then a space and either 0B or 08. any ideas on this?
Thanks,
mark

I have a v-15 12 string that I am trying to sell. it is mahogany in color and has some really beautiful wood work. there are a few light scuffs and some pick scratches, but other than that, this guitar is in really great shape to be as old as it is.. I`d really like to know the value of it, but I`ll entertain offers, as I don`t like the 12`s and I`ve been buying up the higher dollar stuff..
