I used to be able to play is fluently on my guitar, there is a version for one guitar, but as you say its probably not the complete version which is played as a duet. Its pretty damn close to it though. I`m not a grade 8 player, I`ve never had any lessons, I`m self taught, and I basically sat down and practised and practised and practised until I could play it without thinking. Make no mistake, there are some extremely difficult chord changes in this that will hurt you to begin with.

Hi,

It is possible!
It is not quite as effective as when John Williams recorded it and double tracked it.

However it defnatelt works and is very popular.

Trully an outstandingly beautiful music. I believe its best played by two or three experienced players. I have dictated the original sound track and found that;

1. Strings in sound track has the paramount importance. Its merely a code play but is good to add.
2. I thought the side guiter must be D-tuned (some notes lower than E), and then I found the lower C which is never possible even by D-tuned guiter. Actual sound track is pretty much different from tabulature and other music sheets.
3. May be played in A major, played slow to E major.

To play live in E major, perhaps bass guiter would be necessary.
E-mail me for 80% Midi sequence sample if you want my interpretion, strictly for private reference purpose only.
Abraham

When I first heard the song i was picking out the theme before I had the music. Later I bought the music and the sound track. your right playing what you hear in the movie, it`s theme has to be a duo or 2 track recording but on the sound track is a piece that is simplified and is played with one guitar. It`s nice,but not as nice as the main theme.

Yer, I can play it aswell. `Guitarist` magazine interviewed Mr Williams years ago (mid nineties) they also printed the tab and the `real` version which is apparently exactly how he plays it live. (he checked it)

I CAN PLAY IT SO ITS POSSIBLE, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT IN PLACES AND ITS ONE OF THOSE TUNES YOU DO NEED TO PLAY A BIT DIFFERNTLY TO HOW IT IS PLAYED ON THE C.D, IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET IT ABOUT 95% ACCURATE THOUGH.EITHER JOHN HAS 3 HANDS OR YOUR GUITAR TEACHER IS RIGHT ABOUT THE TUNE IN SOME PLACES

I is not impossible to play cavatina with just one guitar. It might be impossible to play it "exactly" like deer hunter.
I play cavatina with just one guitar and if sounds great. just look for tabs on the internet.
It`s not an easy piece to play but gives you a lot of good practice. Keep up the good work!

Kindest regards Andreas Henning
