I myself have never had a piano student, although I`ve been one now for over 7 years. What I would suggest is candy - especially if he or she is young. Flashcards, maybe? Ask her questions throughout the lesson as little "review" periods and if she gets a question right, give her a candy as a reward or something like that.
Like I said, I`ve never taught anyone (well, besides my dad =P), so I have no idea if these actually work.
Have fun!

Nah, I wouldn`t think so. Anyone of any age who has enough knowledge to teach should be able to teach beginners of any age. Plus, the closer you are in age, the easier it might be rather than having someone 30 years older than you instructing you. =)
