I want to buy a Digital Piano so my 3 kids and i can learn how to play. I was told to buy a Digital one verses the acustic ones cuase they were cheaper. Now my problem is that there are so many brand names out there... so far i ran into Casio, Roland, Yamaha, Korg. The most i plan to spend (since we are all beginners) is about $1,500. Any ideas on what i should look for Brand wise? Which Brand out there is better etc.? Any suggestions would be helpful... Thanks to all who reply )-

I can recommend the Technics SX-P50 - about $1000. I`ve had one for two years and it`s been great. I tried several models including yamaha, casio and roland before buying, and in my opinion nothing came close to the Technics in terms of keyboard feel and sound quality. I often found the Technics to be better than models costing more than twice as much while shopping around. I regularly play in a band, and so my piano has been in and out of my car several times - it seems very tough and I haven`t had any problems with it. Keep in mind that you will need a seperate amplifier and speakers (or headphones). Or you can get pretty much the same thing in a piano cabinet with speakers and amplifier built in, but I`m not sure of the model number - ask a dealer. Check out some reviews (Technics and other brands) at
