ok, I know some pieces that are DEFINATELY harder than Chopin, cuz they`re transcriptions of them! They`re transcribed by Godowsky and made into 53 songs, combining and inverting the etudes.

Also, the opus clavi-whatever might be hard, but then again I can get high, the play the keyboard, have someone write down the sheet music, and then that`ll be harder than the opus clav.

but, anyway, can anyone send me the sheet music to the sabre dance boogie thing by robert wells or the original by aram kachaturian.

I thought it was great to see all the fifteen year olds bragging.

I don`t even play piano, (took lessons for an extremely short amount of time) I just plan to get back into it so that I`m able to play more than one instrument well (working on the guitar right now).

I`m not sure how this works in the piano world, but we look for good "tone" in the guitar world. No one really cares if you can play the fastest piece in the world if you sound like crap, so I`m wondering how well the fifteen-year olds have mastered the art to play these pieces?

Perhaps you could all post sound clips of yourself playing?

But I tend to go with what a few others have said: write something. Instead of playing Chopin, be the next Chopin. To me, that would be the ultimate goal of leraning to play an instrument (and from the looks of it, you`ve picked one that everyone seems to have mastered at fifteen).

If not that, learn serialistic and twelve-tone pieces by ear (Boulez and Schoenberg, respectively).

All these people are naming no-feel, techinically difficult music that I couldn`t give two ****s about. The Mozart 20th Piano Concerto in D minor is the most beautiful piece ever written for the piano. May not be the most difficult, but it sure beats the bull**** Rach 3 and other emotionless crap music by a lot in my mind. This piece has so much emotion and feeling in it, and the melodies are absolutely beautiful. You can`t use music like a trophy to win this stupid difficulty contest. You`re all shallow.

The Rach 3.... EMOTIONLESS?! You are such an idiot! Have you ever even heard it?! Have you ever heard the CADENZA?!?! Or the ENDING?!?!?!?!?!

I dare you to find something with more emotion than the Rach 3... In terms of emotion, you cannot compare Mozart to Rachmaninoff.

This is why this forum sucks balls....

Rach 3 stands for Rachmaninoff`s 3rd Piano Concerto. The movie Shine referred to it as the most difficult piece ever written, but it isn`t really.

Sorabji wrote the most difficult music, the Opus Clavicembalisticum in particular. Four hours long. Look back a few pages to see a measure of it.

I am sorry, I don`t like the Rach 3 whatsoever. Mozart combined technical difficulties and structure with emotion and has it all rolled into one. Any composer who can write something as perfect as that is, in my mind, the best composer ever. Few could write with the balance and beauty of the Mozart Piano Concertos. They are so difficult because of the way they must be played and even so, they`re are technically demanding. At the same time, they still have beautiful melodies that aren`t overbearing and boring. I don`t think any other composer in history had such a vast understanding and natural ear as Mozart. His music is simply perfect the way it is. Take one note out, or add one note, and you ruin the absolute perfection of his Masterpieces.

Pianississimo is the hardest piece in the world it lasts for half an hour and you can`t find it free anywhere and it has only been recorded 2 times by Don Martino.(not totally perfect recorded and played by Don Martino the composer). Write pianississimo into a search engine and it will come up with the hardest piano piece.
