How many here actually play jazz piano (not the cheap pre-arranged music)? For example you sit down at your piano, take out an old level 2 book, add swing, ad-lib and improvise all while sight reading. I would just like to hear from some who have past jazz experience.

(I know, bards don`t play piano or jazz)

yeah! well...for the most part ive been playing jazzy songs for about 3 years and ive been learning improv and chords and voicings etc for about a little over a year! i play with my school jazz band~ its fun! i have a LONG way to go though~ theres SOOOO much to learn in jazz(especially piano! URG everybody else plays one dinky note at a time while we play like 50 AND we dont just have to know our chords but like know millions of different voicings- ITS CRAZY!) But, I recommend it to any piano players that want to fully understand music and piano etc.. its really helped me! heh

anyone else know where im coming from?

And if anyone else does--
how did you go about learning your chord voicings? Im frustrated trying to learn them all and i dont know how else to learn them!
