I downloaded this song with a very real intention of learning it. But this piece is so difficult and jumpy that i would be amazed if anyone actually can play it. Some helpful hints would be good...

I can play it, but I don`t really know how I got the hang of it. I think I just tried to memorize the distance between one note and another. After practicing the right hand for a while, I could look at my left hand and let my right hand play from muscle memory.

In "Shine" (the movie about David Helfgott), there is the song La Campalesson. Similar tune to La Campanella. What is the formal name for the La Campalesson. I.e., La Campanella is formally, Etude No. 3...
thanks for any help....

I played it about a year ago. I suggest bringing out the theme notes (really simple theme btw), and blindfolding yourself in order to feel the exact position of the jumps. The part i found most difficult was the second entrance of the second theme, where there are 3 repeated 32`nd notes (mm 60 on my edition.) Also, rhythmic accenting will solve most problems in that piece.

I have been looking for the shorter version, (not La Campenella) (which sounds almost the same, but isn`t) called "La Campalesson". I found it on the "Shine" soundtrack, and can`t seem to locate the sheet music. Is it part of "La Campenella"? Or just some variation that is extremely hard to find? Thanks, guys.

i agree with Mr. Sir..practice it blindfolded..i`ve never really tried to play the whole piece but i looked at it a couple times..and the mistake i always hear is when the highest d sharp is accented and the melody is the accompaniment..u should always sing out that melody and practice it blindfolded..its a hard piece..but not excruciatingly hard..its one of those pieces that are easy to learn but hard to execute like Schuber`s erl king

I`m learning this piece.. I find it tiring as it requires BIG hands and LONG fingers. I have trouble playing the bass especially when it comes to chords with notes far apart.. anyone have any suggestions?

i say practice..i have small hands..i can only reach about a descent 9th and a very ugly 10th..but i never had problems with the jumps..i still consider the hardest variation of the piece the triplet section.. using fingers 2 1 5 with the right hand...it isnt EXTREMELY hard..but its difficult
