i`m going to audition for a lesson class offered by the music department at my college (btw, i`m a science major). i`m at a significant disadvantage because music majors/minors get priority. and to make things worse only 1 out of 10 only gets in. so i have to practice even harder than others to compensate it. anyway, the panel said i should prepare major/minor scales and arpeggio besides the pieces. i know what the words mean, but i`m not sure as to what they expect me to do. i`m so nervous even now because this would be my first time to play in front of other people, especially other pianists. any tips would be appreciated.

You`ll probably just have to play scales, both hands, parallel motion, one octave apart, and maybe they`ll ask for more than one octave. Just start from somewhere that allows you play play as many octaves as they ask for, go up, maybe they`ll ask you to play the top note twice, go back down. Aim for a strong, confident tone, as mechanical as possible.

Play the arpeggiated chords the same as the scales. Both hands, parallel motion, one octave apart.

I hope this helps. I don`t really understand your situation though.
