Hey ya`ll if any of you male drummers have a girl friend that does not like to hear you practice tell them THERE NOT ALONE I don`t play drums but I play flute and in my band we get sick of our drummers not being able to keep a beat for us so we wack them over the head with our flutes so if any of you can teach them how to keep a beat PLEASE get in touch with me

I`m a drummer and I`m damn proud of it. Don`t go discriminating against us Michelle, 99 percent of us are talented and good at what we do. Pity you got a not-so-good drummer for you band, but thats your problem. Most percussionists play not only drums but a tuned instrument, like myself on the piano. Percussion is one of the most difficult instruments, or range of instruments, to learn. We need to be able to read the percussion staff, treble staff for xylophne etc, and bass staff for timpani.
Don`t go dissing such a wonderful group of people just because you were only able to get a uncapable drummer for your band.
Have a great day.
Anna

My friend is a drummer, and a very talented musician. One thing that she, and a lot of drummers do is to play so loud that you can`t hear yourself think.
Also, I have noticed many percussionists who think they know better than the conductor what tempo a piece should go.

Yes Rachel, there are a few percussionists and drummers that like to play loud or out of time, but I`m sure there`s just as many out of time woodwind or string players. I`ve met a couple of drummers that would probably prefer to break their sticks than sound good, but I`ve had the blessing of meeting twice as many drummers and percussionists that are talented. Please don`t pigeon hole drummers and percussionists.

Hey, Drums are realy difficult to handle but you should give these drumers a METRONOME and a HEADPHONE

in our band last yr nun of the drummers could keep a beat and our conductor yelled at them almost evry day. this yr only 1 of the drummers we had last yr is back(the rest quite) and so all of them are really good and the conductor doesnt have to yell. im not sayin that drummers rnt talented, but it does get annoyin when they cant keep a beat, specialy since they set the tempo and beat for the rest of the band, so most of the time if theyre off than so r the rest of us.

You`d really think that all drummers should be able to keep a beat, though. Rhythm is such an important aspect of drumming.

true, but if they just moved to a new instrament, then its really hard. or they just not used to playing with a whole bunch of other instraments. THATS really hard too. think about it.

Moving to another instrument should not make one lose one`s sense of the beat- instruments are not known for their ability to distort time.
As for playing with lots of other people, that is what the conductor is there for.
