Hey, I`ve heard some people dissing the percussion.
obviously they`ve never heard of DCI.
Try listen to the Blue Devils at http://cadetsofnyc.tripod.com/cnycdrumline/id4.html .
Once you get to that site click on Blue Devils Ditty Drumline and see if you still don`t think percussion is good enough.

yes well i can vouch for all people on drumlines that conductors DO slow down. this year they set a metronome (dr.beat) up to the band and the drumline and pit were the only ones who kept with the beat. hmmmmmmm very strange! the fluters couldn`t blame anyone but themselves then for slowing down, that was a great day

if your bad sucks then likewise your drummers will suck too. also there are not to many band directors that know two $hits about percussion anyway. thats why the hire me.

dude, what the heck are you talking about? Have you ever ATTEMPTED to play any sort of percussion instrument? Speaking from experience, most conductors don`t know a lot about drumming, and I`m tired of everybody thinking that we`re a no talent section. We have a fairly small drum section at my school, and recently we`ve opened up the drumline to other members of the band, and you know what? They`re god-awful!! People just can`t seem to admit we make something so difficult look so easy. And btw, if your drummer can`t keep a beat, get a new drummer, or practice with the guy, or something, but I`ve never met a serious drummer who sped up or slowed down spontaneously, unless the band itself begins to drag.

SERIOUSLY! our school just opened up our line to other instruments 4 winter percussion and they have no talent whatsoever! it took a billion sectionals to teach them the frickin warmups!!!! so if u think percussionists suck you can shove my bass drum mallets as well as the drum up ur ass!!!!!!!!

one more thing is that drums are loud. you cant help that. unless of course you tap it with your hands.

i wasn`t saying that that is how you play the drums, is taping with your hands, i was just giving an example. it is like trying to play the trumpet without blowng. you see what i am saying? it`s pointless, drums were made to be loud.

Hey dude, when god made up music, he also made up something called.............DYNAMICS! Drums were made to have the potential to be loud, but a true percussionist can control his volume under any circumstances. hey heather!
