So I've had the same big d'jembe for about 8 years with the same beautiful goat skin head and it finally broke this past monday.

I'm looking to buy the skins and teach myself how to re-head the drum but I have no-idea how to go about buying a skin that wont let me down.

It's a 12" diameter head and the one that came with it was seemingly perfect to me. No pocks and not on the spine so it was all just great natural texture.

The vendor I bought it from told me it was from the Ivory Coast, however the man who taught me to tighten it said it was definitely from Senegal. If that makes a difference in what type of skin was already on it then i'd love to try and find a similar type.

I don't know much about re-heading these so any help or tips would be much appreciated.
I'm hoping to have it done in the next 2 weeks so wish me luck!
and Thanks
