Today I was talking to my other percussionist friend. I havent had a chance to play a four mallet piece yet but she has. She told me today that if you cant do the vulcan peace sign then you cant play with four mallets. Is this true? I cant do it on either hand D:

I don't think that is necessary at all. For just starting out make sure you have a solid 2 mallet grip and see if you might be a better fit for cross grip or a independent grip for 4 mallet playing. It will take work, but the best suggestion I have is to just always practice having the mallets in your hand. Walk around the house carrying 4 mallets and just get use to it. There are lots of great books and videos out there that can help you get going if you don't have a private instructor yet. Best of luck!
