Okay I run an after school marching drum line and dancer program. I have 3 elementary school kids who have joined because their older brothers or sisters are a drummer or a dancer (which are like color guard).

One of the elementary school kids is a boy who wishes to be like the older drummers. He keeps asking me what he can play so he`s part of their little group.

Now what am I suppose to tell him? I mean I`ve never done this before, I`m a woodwind player mainly, but I thought maybe I could have him march with the small crash cymbals, the cow bell, or a triangle.

If that doesn`t work I was thinking he could do something like hold a little flag or help with the banner.

What do you think? He really does want to be part of the drummer....he goes back by them every day when we go inside to practice rhythms...we don`t have the drums yet so I`m just teaching them the basics of marching right now and getting them use to keeping their lines straight, staying on together in step, etc.

well......i wouldn`t really know what to do. but you do have alot of choices.
1. give him a triangle with no bar to hit it with. (i doubt that you would want to use that one.)
2. give him some little drum to play on.
3. say "no" to drugs and to little elementary kids.
well the list can keep going but as for a good one to use i wouldn`t know. sorry i am of no help though.
peacers!
