You can get the music from WB, they`re selling it.

I don`t know why you`ll spend practice time on it.

I hate posers.

I hate cocky drummers.

I bet you can`t even play `Cool Guy MrElroy".

Ok. So I know you all just love lashing out at everyone else about whether this movie was good or whatever... For what it was, it was a decent movie, with some average acting, but it had an acurate plot. There are many different styles of band out there. Drum Corps (my favorite) Show Band (the movie drumline) and Military (Ohio State). That movie was an acturate portrayal of a southern show style marching band.

I`m the section leader (center snare) for the Bowling Green State University Drumline. We are corp style. And I used to be in band in highschool much like the movie drumline... and it was very hard for me to switch over... but after four years I was able to become the section leader. I do feel that the music that they play is inferior to the music that a corps style drumline would play, but it is some kickin grooves... those are fun to listen to. You have to be repectful of all types. I love corps Style. and neither of those bands played one lick that was clean... and if I were listening and watching that movie expecting that, then i would have been severely dissapointed... but i knew that wasnt going to happen. Cause thats not the main concern for a southern show band.

To get down to some facts. The drumlines in that movie are very real. Morris Brown College is real... and so is that drumline. The A&T drumline was real... however it was not from A&T... A&T does not exist... it is however known as the Sentinal Drumline. The actors did not play any of the music. Their drums were covered in what is called a drum muffle pad. It is a black disc that covers the head so that no attach and sound will come out of the drum. Thats ok with me... its a movie. Not everyone can drum.

Another fact, is that when a trigger is placed on a drum in order to pick up the notes that are played, many times the computer will read drum music with sharps. Sharps are generally picked up do to rim shots which are higher pitched.

Honestly, I would never want to play the cadences from that movie... but that is because I am not in that style of a drumline. I don`t see a problem with other people playing them because they are some fun beats to listen to. Everyone on this forum needs to grow up and learn that not everyone is the same... not everyone comes from the same backround, not everyone marches in the same style band. From a Music Majors point of view... learn to be a lil more open minded and love ALL types of music or at least respect them for what they are worth. Once again. I love Corps style marching, and I am best friends with some of the greatest drummers to go through DCI in the history of the idium... such as Tim Jackson, or Andrew Markworth, or TJ Hartman, many of the drummers from Blue Devils, Cavies, and Glassmen. And I love to play corps style music. But I still respect the other stuff too. It`s all fun... I love band. End of story.

I don`t know why so many of you have to be big babies, I agree with Jon, love the music, try to help those who are trying to develop their skills. The use of profanity and random insults is childish. I like the movie Drumline, and I like marching bands. I`m really trying to find CDs from college level marching bands, it`s harder than I thought. Any suggestions? All of you who play drums, I admire you. I have zero rhythm. I am a classical pianist.

first i will adress the haters:
1) drumline was a movie with actors actors are those who portray characters whether fictional or real
2) appreciate the movie for what it is i know some of it was not played by our hero nick cannon (ok fine none of it) but the movie brought a whole new perspective/fan base on drumlines in general
3) dont rag on people who want music from a movie the was a representation through the director`s eyes of what we do

now for the music wanters:
1) props for going to what seems (first time here from a google search) to be a great source of information on what we all at least claim to love MUSIC
2) (to the guys wanting music) you and i want the music for the same reason as men do anything at all PUSSY. i dont care how you try to get around it. someone made a comment that they needed the music to get into an advanced class. fine. but look further into that and you see that from the advanced class you move to the field and maybe even make section leader and you play up in front right in front of the cheerleaders (at least at a halftime show) who dont know f*ck about drumming except it sounds cool and theres your pussy.
3) (for the girls wanting the music) this comment may not be as insightful as the above but i am certainly not a woman so give me some slack. if a girl wants this music its probably to prove to some asshole guy on her squad that she is just as good if not better than him and i hope that if that is your abjective you succeed.

in conclusion the movie drumline is excactly that a movie but it does lay down some nasty beats and has brought drumline style sh*t to the mainstream and if you want to play the cadences from the movie thats great i do too because its probably not much of a measure of skill .

drumline music = pussy

p.s. if you have the f*ckin sheet music either send it to me (logan.hale@gmail.com) or stop this f*cking thread and post it here.

You know when Atlanta A&T first went to Morris Brown and they played that song where they said JUMP ON IT? Well what is that song called?
