Im going to play a solo for a marimba and its requires 4 mallets. Any tips?

depends on which grip you`re using and what solo... but here`s a tip that is for any.. practice.. over and over.. details..

I use the Stephens grip(SP?) it works best for me, you get a really pretty flutter when you roll if you use that grip, i think its the easiest one to learn. If your like a fast song where you block out the notes i would learn the Cross Grip, but that one is a little bit more different. but i aggree with ^, practice practice practice to get used to the weight of two mallets in each hand.

eh.. well marimba.. usually steven`s grip is used. Cross grip for vibes.. but you just use what is more comfortable.. what is more comfortable, not speed.. If you`re having problem with speed, then you should be working on the part slowly, working on technique, getting chops, etc.

i definately prefer stephen`s over burton....it allows you a lot freedom to move and feels more relaxed and comfortable, but you should try both to see what works better for you....i`ve got plenty more tips, but i`m not gonna type them all in, so shoot me an e-mail or IM me (drmmrchk87) if you wanna know more.
