i must say thomas u r the snobbiest and stupidest person ive ever seen on a thread. ive been playing alto for 3 years and am now trying to pick up guitar. tab would be extremely helpful for saxophone as most sweet alternative/ska/emo music isnt exactly found at your local music store . steve had a point with his definition. sax tabs need to be made!!!

okay, okay. i jus wanna say that sax tabs would be impractical at best. its waaay easier to write it out in full musical(staff) notation. u can even copy it into a pdf if u want.
also, i wanna say that while i`m not the most informed, most educated person posting, i am a saxophone major at the university of alabama. and something i can tell you is that if a pattern or melodic line is easy enough to "tab", then its probably not worth learning in the 1st place. the only time i try to pick out stuff like that, i do it by ear- as an excersize.
let me fill u in on a secret about ska music- its almost ALWAYS in a MAJOR key. if u don`t know your M scales, then they need to be learned. sometimes scale degree 7 is lowered 1 1/2 step, but its almost always major. extremely easy to pick out by ear. i don`t mean to sound condescending, and i`m sorry if i do, but the idea of sax tabs irritates me. do it the real way- learn your scales, then pick the line out by ear.

hey i`m sorry my last post sounded a bit mean. i don`t mean to make fun of you, or anything of the sort. i just can`t stress to you how important it is that you learn to figure out the music, and not rush to try and find the note names (sax tabs) on the internet. that really, really hurts you in the long run. quite honestly, if u want to be a legitimate player in any contemporary(sp?) setting, you`ll have to be able to figure music out on the fly. and it starts at the level ur currently at. learn the skill now, and be better off later. jus my $.02

You can read music? You can`t even write a single sentence of English!

Once upon a time the organ as well as the lute used a system of tablature. The lute is now obsolete, and the organ no longer uses a tablature system--for very good reasons. Not to put too fine a point on it, tablature nowadays is for musical illiterates, and those who use it deserve all the scorn they get and more.
