It might be for some cases. I'm somewhat tall (5'5") and I play alto, but I'm also learning tenor. One of my friends (who's not that tall) started with an alto, switched to soprano, and then switched to tenor. Maybe for some of those with a smaller stature it may be; someone who's 4'8" might not want to play the bari. But I think it just depends on what they want to play.

I'm 5'2" and play alto, tenor and bari. The last one is almost if not half my height. And yes I sometimes do have equilibrium problems with that one. =P

Triforce: Guess how old I am.

Imagica: I'd love to play the bari sax; I just think it's too heavy for me to carry around.

I'm supposed to march with it... And I guess that's possible, it's just not for me. So I only play it in concert, which is a lot more comfortable. Mainly because that way I can use a makeshift support that I place underneath the sax, and all is good.
