Hey!!!!! Anyone and everyone in this forum tell me what is better...the sax or the flute? I know some of you guys could be biased towards the sax but really.......what one sounds better? I`m having an argument with my friend ever this so PLEASE tell me what you think!!!!

I think the flute is so much better. It has a much nicer sound and it isn`t as slevery as the sax!!!!

The Saxophone is better because it has a nice harmonic sound that can fit almost any type of music

They are totaly different. It depednds on what kind of sound you are talking about. If it is like sleek and smooth than flute is by far the best. And if it is like jazz and stuff sax is for sure the bbest. My personal preference is sax because I love jazz stuff.

This is opinion, you can not have an argument with someone about which is better a sax of flute, the idea is ludicrous.

THE SAXOPHONE BY ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT. I CAN MAKE IT LAUGH,CRY,SING AND LAUGH NOT ONLY IN JAZZ MUSIC BUT IN ALL VENUE`S. THERE IS NO OTHER INSTRUMENT THAT CAN EXPRESS EMOTION`S ANY WHERE COMPARABLE TO A SAXOPHONE.

While if you ask me, the sax comes out on top. I love jazz and I play sax so you can`t be too surprised. I think the sax can fit into any kind of music depending on the tone that the persons getting and the type of sax (bari, tenor ETC.) whereas the flute sounds all very similiar to me.

well cazza u r asking a seriously biased group of ppl. ur in the sax forums. u need ppl like me to answer :P. i play sax and double on flute. now the good points about a sax is that depending on your sax and your set up u can get that nice, i would like to describe it as like a velvet like sound. smooth and powerful all at the same time. thats wat a good tenor sounds like. flute has a particulary airy tone no matter wat genre u play in, but mostly in jazz.but personally.i love my sax, but for classical saxs don`t fit the alrdy preset bill. flute mixes in with latin jazz and swing. an the flutes voicing when vibrato is properly used will make u cry. so i gotta say flute guys.

Well, to be honest I prefer the flute. I love my saxophon, don`t get me wrong, but I prefer playing classical music and the flute is good for that. But the best instrument is OF COURSE the clarinet.

I love the sax a lot more than i liked playong flute.... There are so many more types of saxes and different sounds you can get

I do play tenor sax but my double is flute. personally i love the flute sound when done properly. especially jazz flute. BUT, i am a saxophone player at heart i just love the tenor sound. a jazz tenor`s sound cannot is unmatched in beauty and power *John Coltrane* while even tho it may not be the first thought on your mind for sax, classical tenor saxophone is the most awsome sounding thing in the world. My vote is a firm saxophone all the way
