I am playin the bari sax for jazz band and bass clarinet for regular band and I`ve noticed that since the reeeds are so stinking big, that they don`t dry out good when I put them in my case and was wondering if there was some way to make them dry faster or ANYTHING to make them not ... ugh... grow mold. i dry them off as much as I can and all but still they get gross and sry but I`m tired of playin 5 bucks a reed for the bari reeds and was hoping ANYONE could hlp me! ...please...

One thing that might work is try wrapping your reed in your spitrag, obviously before you run your spitrag through your sax, for about 5 minutes, it should soak up most of the spit.

There are reed holders that are four reeds back to back, two on each side, that hold the reed flat while it dries...it`s vented to help dry faster...I have one for my tenor saxophone....works wonders.

Rico and LaVoz bari reeds are less expensive. She is most likely using them.
Anyways, for drying out the reed, I would highly suggest bclarsax`s point. I use similar reed holders for alto and bari called "reedgard" cases. They hold the reed flat, while draining out the moisture. I noticed that when I first started using them, my reeds lasted at least twice as long. They are very cheap, only $2 or so for a 2-reed capacity case.
