I just got a new Cannonball saxophone and need some suggestions. I still have my beginner model Conn that i use for marching band. Since I have to try to outplay the brass, i can play pretty loud on the Conn. The Cannonball (I use it in Jazz Band) is VERY mellow and not as loud. Are there any techniques to play louder?

Professional saxophonists say that learning to play pianissimo helps their loud playing, and I have to say I agree. Practise playing pianissimo regularly and your fortissimo playing will improve dramatically. I know it sounds weird but just try it.
