I talked to my band instructor and he was nice enough to give me an Alto saxophone. A king cleveland 613 alto saxophone with a few repairs needed. I was wondering if this is a good sax for a beginner to saxophones but not to band. Also if it is worth repairing it needs $300 in repair to get it to "like new" condition.

Yes they are supposed to be a very good instrument with a long history & a unique sound. There's a page somewhere on google that gives all the details about that brand. The repairs seem very expensive but you should have an excellent sax in the end.
