that`s so kewl! which sax is the hardest? at least, in your opinion? omg this guy came and talked to our school about not doing drugs and stuff, and he played the soprano, and OMG it was the most beautiful music i have ever heard! i was like WHOA!! and all of us (the saxes) were like, sitting there with our mouths on the floor! our band director was amazed... it was so kewl...

I think it`s a very forgiving beginner instrument, you`ll be surprised how quickly you can pick it up!

Sax is easy to learn, but hard to master. There are acctually six types of sax (Supprano, Alto, Tenor, Bari, Bass, Contrabass). Their all hard to get good at, but in different ways. The higher saxes tend to have a nice high end, but it might be harder to get a note out if your used to a tenor or bari sax mouthpiece. My advice is to talk to jazz musicians. Classical musicians tend to only tell you one side of music (the classical side), while jazz musicians will tell u primarily about jazz, but usually can relate to classical (as jazz is originally based on classical).

If you have an questions, my AIM screenname is PinkNoseFeryShmo

If you live in the Portland (OR) metro area, and want lessons, talk to me and i`ll see what i can do.

Actually PinkNoseFeryShmo, there are more than six types of saxophone. there is the sopranino, soprano, alto, C-melody, tenor, baritone, bass, and contrabass. Learn how to spell soprano, the world will be a better place, and you might be a better teacher.

Hmm...strange since usually tonguing goes slower than fingering. But yeah, it`s all the same, play it slow so that they`re both "together", and then work your way up.
