I have had singing lessons in school for a year (i`m 15) but my teacher doesn`t really teach us anything. I know how to breath etc and i`m a soprano in my school choir.

I would like some tips on extending your vocal range (at the moment I can sing from the G below middle C, to the second G above middle C). Any other useful tips would also be great.

I would like to be a professional singer when i`m older so if anyone has any tips i would be greatful.

Thank you

As far as breathing, it`s best to breath from your diaphragm. If you don`t, you tend to run out of breath more quickly and you aren`t as loud.

To achieve good quality and volume, you can tell if you are singing properly if you have the vibration when you touch the sides of your nose (up toward your eyes, but still the nose). If you can pinch your nose even without a tone change, you are singing properly. Higher notes tend to cause vibration up in your cavities by your eyebrows. If you do not feel vibration in either of these cavities, you are singing from your throat, which can really ruin your vocal chords and I`ve even had it cause pain.

That`s all I can think of right now.

My main tip is to be confident the more you act like you feel right at home performing in front of people the more they will feel at home listening to your performance. Also if you act confident in yourself that`s one more reason for them to have confidence in you enough to give you a high score or choose you for the job. Never apologize if something goes wrong. Try and just go on and do your best. Often things go wrong with sound equipment or with the accompaniment and the singer has no control. if you can bounce back from those things you`re on your way to being a pro in my opinion. I also Like to record myself on my computer and listen to the play back You are ofen your worst critic you know. I have even seen an ad for computer software that lets you see your pitch as you sing a song. It`s called Singing Coach.

Let us know how your auditions turn out!

It`s most likely too late now, but don`t intake dairy 2 (or less) hours before you sing. It clogs up the throat.
