Hey, I was just wondering if anybody else takes these exams. I am doing my grade 5 in December. I am singing:

1. Nina
2. Trauer Der Liebe
3. I Could Have Danced All Night
4. (unaccompanied traditional) Lord of the Dance

So, how about you? I'd love to hear from you!!!

yeah, I do ABRSM exams, I haven't done any in singing but I do them in clarinet, piano and theory, I really admire people who do them because they are very hard, I havn't worked up the courage to do one in singing because the thought of sight singing is very scary, I tend to improvise a lot and I have definitely not gotten the hang of sight singing even to a basic level, sing me something, I'll sing it back perfectly, put some music in front of me that I don't know and it won't be very good!!
Have you done any other grade exams? If so how did you do? Let me know how this one goes for you. Take care, Shelly Belly xxx

Yes, I have done Grade one singing and got Distinction.

I also did Grade 4 singing and got Merit--I was only 2 points away from distinction!

I also did Grade 1 theory and got distinction. I actually only got one question wrong. I was so surprised, because theory is not really my best area of music!

Also, don't worry about the sight singing! I am also completely horrible, but the examiners are not very harsh in grading that area. They know we are nervous, and they also understand how hard sight singing is.

Hi!

Yes I do the ABRSM exams, but I've only taken grade 1 theory so far, and have not yet got my results. I'm going to be doing grade 1 piano next month and grade 3 or 4 singing at Easter....

What does the singing syllabus contain for grade 3 or 4?

Love Laura

hey there..yeah i do d ABRSM exams for piano n theory..n yeah, it's not easy at all. i'm in grade 8 now for practical n in grade 6 for theory although i dun think i would like to take anymore theory exams as i REALLY despise theory. Afterall, grade 5 is d minimum requirement..lol..For piano,i only got a distinction in grade 1,2, and 5..i skipped grade 3 so i only managed a pass in grade 4.. abt sight-singing..hahah..there is a small part of it in d piano exam n i kinda suck at it..anyway, i never really knew there are voice exams too..maybe cuz it's not really well-known in my country..gud luck to u in ur exam!
