What is it that you don't like about your voice? Some aspects of your voice cannot be changed. You must learn to love what is unique about your voice. I used to hate my voice too. I am a light lyric baritone and I could'nt sing higher than F above middle C without using falsetto. I also had a whiny nasal tone to my voice. Using the proper vocal exercises changed my voice(I used Seth Riggs' book "Singing for the Stars" and his Singer's Advantage program). My tone is now more natural and I have learned to blend into my upper range smoothly. Training has brought out the unique character of my voice which is different than I expected. When I sing tenor range I have a light sound like a countertenor or alto. I wanted to hit strong chesty high notes like a tenor but I must accept my voice for what it is. Vocal training will improve the quality of your voice and bring out your unique tone, but will not change it. Anyone can learn to hit any note with enough training but you will never sound like someone else. Learn to love your voice. Hope this helps!
