I made it into an honors band and the concert is January 20th. I have a piece of music called "Go west" and it has way too many 32nd notes. Can someone help me I need to know to count them before January 11th. My teacher usually gives us a piece of music and expects us 6th 7th and 8th graders who are just getting used to play a classical instrument to just get it the first time we see it and if we don't she turns into the devil Please help me. If you have any info please tell me. Also don't mention using a metranome, I don't have one. Thanks. schoolbandgeek1

I don't believe there is an official way to count them, (and I'm assuming you mean how to count them in time) and course the quarter note (1, 2, 3, etc.) the eigth note (1+, 2+, 3+, etc.) and the sixteenth note (1e+a, 2e+a, 3e+a, etc.) are all standard countings. I would suggest using the sixteenth note, as there would be two 32nds for each [1][e][+][a] making eight 32nds for one quarter note, four for an eigth note, and two for a sixteenth note.

hey thanks. I tried looking it up on Google but all it gave me was how to read music in braille lol. so thanks a lot man I'm sure that would help.

Just play them like grace notes till you can count them... play really slowly and count eights or 16ths as one beat.

BUT THE CONCERT IS IN LESS THAN A WEEK AND I JUST GOT THE MUSIC BEFORE CHRISTMAS VACATION WHICH IS 2 WEEKS AND THIS IS MY 1ST DAY BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but thanks 4 the help anyways. I'm sure my band director will help.

Hey concert is today and thanks for the help but guess what, this is hilarious, they decided not to play that song(it's a medley,aka i'm pretty sure you know this, 2 or more melodies put in 1 song)for the concert because we are going to play one of the melodies for the concert(which is relativily easy) the fastest notes are 8th notes so as i said it's relativily easy. thanks alot for your help though i really appriciate it.
